Ikebana is the traditional Japanese art of flower arrangement. As taught in Japan, it is a disciplined art form that brings together nature and humanity in a harmony of color, shape, line, and form. The artist distills the outcome through a meditative and focused process of silent creativity.

The Japanese have developed the art to integrate the organic (stems, leaves, flowers and branches) with various styles of pottery vases.
The arrangement may symbolize heaven, earth, and man, or in some schools . . . sun, moon, love, and earth.
